PEPPIE Debut Animation | Pepper Lunch Mascot - Late Studio | Hong Kong Animation Studio

Pepper Lunch invited the team to create a debut animation for its mascot, PEPPIE. The entire video was animated with AI, with only minimal touch-ups, making it in a sense the team's first video made purely with AI.

In one continuous shot, a Beef Pepper Rice transforms into PEPPIE, who then performs a series of moves for the camera.

Main Content

The client provided photos of the actual product and venue, and the team's job was to bring them to life. While AI makes this simpler, it still took patient, repeated refinement to achieve a satisfying result.

The video was not done in one go. Several generations had obvious flaws, including PEPPIE's moves in the wrong order and background issues.

In version one, the table's wood grain clashed with the overall frame and looked out of place.

Version two's wood grain was rejected for looking too similar to the floor.

Version three kept the table from version two, made it stand out more from the background, and fixed the order of PEPPIE's moves. The client chose this version.

Final Touches

Finally, plenty of sound effects and music were added in AE to enrich the video, along with an end card featuring the Pepper Lunch logo, and the job was done.
