Ripples of Sound Music Art Exhibition | Art of MY Family - Late Studio | Hong Kong Animation Studio

Late Studio was invited by Art of MY Family to take part in the "Ripples of Sound" exhibition alongside a number of designers and artists. Our main role was to turn the exhibit sketches into 3D and create mock-ups, providing different versions for examining details, so that the most precise layout could be found before the actual installation and the exhibition's message could be conveyed to the fullest.

Giving musical notes physical form, so music can be seen and touched.

Sketches and Concepts

The organisers provided plenty of complete exhibit design ideas, including exhibit models, layouts and a venue overview, which saved the team considerable time when creating the 3D models and venue mock-up.

Students coloured the notes to their own taste, turning plain colourless notes into a rainbow so the charm of music can be felt visually.

A sculpture by the organiser conveying a mind as still as water — a state of utter calm as beautiful as a blooming flower.

Exhibition Simulation

Besides the music-related exhibits, the exhibition also featured works by other artists, so the team created mock-ups for those too, while keeping the focus on the music-related pieces to ensure a consistent theme.

At the Exhibition

In fact, this exhibition was designed specifically for the hearing-impaired community, hoping to let visitors feel the resonance and emotional flow of sound through sight and physical contact. Students from the Lutheran School for the Deaf also hand-painted musical notes, transforming their creations into dancing light and rhythm.
