Late Studio was invited by Chinese International School to create 3D models and a CG tour video of its new campus. The video is presented in two styles, realistic and animated: the former helps viewers imagine the new campus as it will look upon completion, while the latter expresses the clean style of modern architecture, effectively introducing the campus facilities.

An aerial shot first captures the school logo, then swiftly moves to the new campus.

Pre-productionInitial Modeling

Before modeling, the team first studies the surroundings of the target building and models the neighbouring buildings, only starting on the main model once the proportions are confirmed. This way, even if the design changes, little time is lost on scale issues.

ProductionInterior Design

At this stage, the team built on some of the existing facilities provided by the client, modifying them and adding brand-new details. The client wanted the new campus facilities to feel lively in both layout and appearance, so the team referred to a large number of concept images to create the most vivid look possible.

ProductionCharacter Creation

For the characters, the team referred to existing student models available online and created CIS-style students and teachers, for example by dressing them in the Chinese International School uniform and applying brand-new motion rigs.

Post-productionVFX Compositing

Most of the compositing was done in Nuke, with only much of the opening and ending made in After Effects. The floor introduction shots were completed in Blender and Nuke, with a few captions added in After Effects.
